7th Grade Math
Modules & enVision
Dear Parents,
I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Mountain Home Junior High and open lines of communication. My name is Lenny DeVore and I will be teaching math to your 7th grader. Attached you will see a list of the classroom expectations and a contact form for you to complete. I am looking forward to teaching your children and will contact you with any information you might need. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. I am usually at the school until 4pm. You can contact me by phone, through the office (587-2590 x2129), email (devore_rl@mtnhomesd.org). I will respond to all emails before I leave for the day. Emailing is my preferred way of communication. I have a website with information on lessons and what the students will be doing for each week on the school website (http://mhjh.mtnhomesd.org/). From there you will choose the dropdown menu “Departments” and choose “classrooms”. “Mr. DeVore – Math - Pre Algebra” is the link near the bottom of the page. We are currently switching our websites, so it may be a week or so before mine is completed. For Honors Math we will be adapting the same curriculum as the High School; Pearson enVision Math 2.0 (Accelerated Grade 7). This will prepare your student to take Integrated Math 1 in 8th grade.. It will be important for your student to complete their homework so they are as well prepared for the tests as possible. Below is the grading scale. Tests / Quizzes 25% Lessons 50% Notes 25% *This may change as I become more familiar with the new curriculum. For Module 7 we will be continuing the modules developed by BSU. The curriculum contains more hands-on work within the classroom and you will see a lot less homework. So, the best way to keep track of how your student is doing is to check the gradebook in powerschool. Below is the grading scale I will be using. Tests / Quizzes 25% Lessons 50% Notes 25% My feeling is the only way your child will be able to learn and be ready for the 8th grade is through collaboration between yourself, your child, and me. Thank you for your continued support, Lenny DeVore |
